Lapland has more to offer than just a Christmas themed experience of visiting Santa and you might just be surprised at how much this Nordic destination has to offer! During the winter months Lapland transforms into a winter wonderland and oozes festive going’s on and winter activities, here are 5 of the less talked about best Lapland trips & activities.

Skiing in Levi
Levi is a fell that can be found in Finnish Lapland in Kittila about an hour and a half north of the capital Rovaniemi and is home to Finlands largest ski resort. Winner of the best ski resort in Finland 2016 from Levi offers a serious amount of skiing with 27 lifts, 43 pistes and a snow park for downhill skiing and snowboarding. However, skiing here is not limited to just adults and experienced skiers. Levi boasts a ski school, a variety of ski passes for adults and children, some of which are free, a south piste playground and dedicated kids land! You can find something for everyone at Levi, families, couples, adults and experienced skiers, plus skiing in the arctic circle we’re not sure what gets better than that!


Snowmobiling & Lapland Safaris
Finland has some of the most magical and untouched winter scenery you could imagine just waiting to be explored. And if you’re wondering, ‘how can I see Finland?’ there are some quite unordinary ways of doing it. You can take a snowmobile safari and explore the artic wilderness either by yourself if you’re one for an adventure or by a guided tour. On a snowmobile safari you can explore, take in the scenery and really get in touch with the magical landscape of Lapland. If you want to explore the region from a bird’s eye view you can even take to the skies on a helicopter tour or in a hot air balloon!

Visit the Snow hotel
The world is full of weird and wonderful accommodation; however, Finland is home to one of the most amazing, The Artic Snow Hotel. The snow hotel sleeps up to 70 guests in a variety of different rooms all hand crafted from ice and snow. Spending the night on a transparent bed crafted from snow and ice really is a once in a lifetime opportunity that shouldn’t be missed!

Lapland is one the best places to spot the Northern lights, travel 250km north of the Arctic circle you will find Kakslauttanen, a family run business with some purely incredible accommodation. They have a large selection of luxury accommodation available, various types of glass igloos, snow igloos and chalet lodges. If you want to spot the Northern lights, we don’t think there is a much better way than at Kakslauttanen. Staying overnight with a glass of wine in an igloo made from glass, for the perfect warm and comfortable view of the Northern Lights, perfect!


Santa’s Salmon Place
Whilst in Lapland you must try out some traditional Lappish cuisine in the incredibly festive setting at Santa’s Salmon Place. The restaurant is set in a wooden tepee of traditional Sami design where you can enjoy freshly baked salmon and relax by an open fire. Everything about this place screams Nordic Lapland, the food is even served on natural wooden plates. Ranked number 2 out of the total 68 restaurants in Lapland on trip adviser this is a defiantly an experience not to be missed.
